Traditional Apple Crisp Recipe with a Twist

Ingredients
  

  • 3/4 cup (180 ml) whole wheat flour or oat flour ground oats
  • 6 cups (1.5 L) apple slices peeled
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup (240 ml) sucanat with honey or honey crystals
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) water
  • 1/3 cup (75 ml) quick oats
  • 1/3 cup (75 ml) butter

Optional (for enhanced flavor)

  • Chopped cranberries or chopped nuts

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F or 180°C.
  • Place sliced apples in a 10” x 6” baking dish. Add some water.
  • In a bowl, combine flour, oats, sucanat, and cinnamon.
  • Using a pastry blender or 2 knives, cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Sprinkle mixture over apples.
  • Bake for 40 minutes or until apples are tender.
