The Best Immune-Boosting Smoothie Recipe
Smoothies have been the “thing” for a while now. I’m not sure if they’re a regular part of your diet, but I sure hope they are. I also hope that you’ll check out this best immune-boosting smoothie recipe I’m sharing with you today!
I’ve been a fan of smoothies for a long time and even have a whole section in the Treasures of Healthy Living Cookbook with a healthy drink and smoothie recipes.
If you’ve followed me for some time, you know that I love sharing God’s recipe for excellent health. But if you’re new to the Biblical Nutritionist, I’m glad you found me and want you to be blessed!
Well, a huge part of being healthy is boosting your immune system.
You know, that intricately designed part of the body God created just so it’d help us stay healthy? Yeah, that.
There are many ways we can aid our immune system so that it works optimally.
Today, we’re talking about super smoothies to build an incredible immune system.
We’re coming into a phase or age of time that we have to protect our immune system as the number 1 fighting agent we have.
We will never defeat or eliminate all germs. As a matter of fact, they’re getting more sophisticated as time goes on. As humans advance, so do pathogens, viruses, and bacteria.
But we don’t have to wait for medicines to fight back!
God created our immune systems AND has given us hundreds of resources to help our bodies fight for good health.
A few of them are included in today’s amazing smoothie recipe.
Why a Smoothie?
Smoothies have been so popular for so long, I assumed everyone knew how to make them.
However, as I’ve gained more coaching clients recently, I’ve discovered this isn’t always the case.
It’s totally OK to not know where to start! We’re going back to basics today for anyone who’s new to smoothie making or wants a refresher.
Smoothies can come in so many varieties. This is one reason they’re so popular. You don’t have to like what I like and I don’t have to have what you want. But, we can both enjoy healthful foods just the same.
Smoothies also don’t take a huge amount of resources to make. They can be simple, including a couple of fruits and/or vegetables, or many.
Today’s smoothie recipe includes multiple ingredients specifically focused on building immunity.
Immune-Building Smoothie Recipe
We want to build an immune system that functions as the number one barrier against harmful invaders to our bodies. We want to build a wall that no pathogen or toxin can penetrate.
Today we’re doing that with smoothies. Super, powerful immune-boosting smoothie recipe. So, what are we putting in them?
Liquid
All smoothies need a liquid. I recommend water. You could also use nut milk. You can use juice, but it’s not my preference because it adds too much sugar.
Greens
We need greens in our diet! I’ve done a video on healthy greens to put in your smoothie during the Daniel Fast. Check out this video to learn more how to buy the best greens for your smoothie recipe:
If you prefer to listen to the video content, here is a podcast episode that you may want to check out instead. Give it a listen, download it, and share it with your family and friends!
The greens were going to talk about today are:
- Celery – a great liver detoxifier
- Spinach – promotes strong bones & so much more
- Kale – amazing veggie that helps numerous areas of health
- Peas – a healthy starch
- Asparagus – full of fiber
- Arugula – rich in antioxidants
- Dandelion – free and super healthy (check out this video)
You don’t have to include all of these greens in your smoothie. Start with one.
Also, these greens each have a plethora of health benefits, so don’t think what’s listed above is all they offer. On the contrary, they’re each rich and are very similar. So, pick the one you like to begin with, then try the others as time goes on.
Dehydrated kale is one of my favorite ingredients to keep on hand for just such an occasion. (I post about it frequently on my Facebook page.)
I grow my own kale from the fall through spring and I dehydrate it and powder it. It keeps well and only takes a tiny scoop. Dehydrated, a small scoop is equivalent to a whole handful of kale!
When you add one or more greens into your smoothie, your immune system is going to say, “Oh, thank you!”
Fruit
There are so many great fruits to choose from for a delicious smoothie! Anything from avocado, to orange, apple, mango, watermelon, blueberries. The list goes on and on!
I like to use frozen bananas because it helps thicken the smoothie out. They also mellow out any other flavors that might otherwise be too sharp.
An apple does the same thing as a banana. These will help balance the sharpness of your super-healthy veggies you threw in.
You can also throw ginger in your smoothie for an extra kick and health benefits.
Seeds & Nuts
Flax seeds, chia seeds, pumpkin seeds, and nuts are also great additions.
Did you see the YouTube video on Flaxseed benefits? Check it out – it’s packed with teachings and interesting information on flaxseeds and why you should eat it daily.
You may want to catch the podcast episode, too, on this important teaching about flaxseeds and their health benefits:
No Limits to Immune-Boosting Smoothies
Are you catching on that there are no limits to the immune-boosting smoothie recipe you can make?
Having so many choices helps you find the combinations that you will enjoy most while arming your body to fight those nasty invaders found everywhere in our world.
As you’re experimenting, I recommend you have at least one food from each of the categories in your immune-boosting smoothies. That means you want at least one:
- Liquid
- Green
- Fruit
- Seed
- Nut
This is your base.
But wait! There’s more!
Additional Ingredients for Your Smoothie Recipe
We’ve added lots of good ingredients to our immune-boosting smoothie recipe, but there are a handful of others that your body will also thank you for.
Protein
I’ve used a lot of protein powders in my search for the best one. They all had various benefits, but this protein powder is about healing the gut so your mind can think sharp.
Yeah! I’ll do that.
My absolute favorite protein powder is the GBX Protein and comes in vanilla and chocolate. Check it out to see all the great benefits of this microbiome-boosting plant protein. It’s the perfect addition to any immune-boosting smoothie.
Some Enhancements
Mentabiotics – pre-, pro-, and phytobiotics that work to heal the gut. So much of our mental fog and lack of energy comes from an unhealthy gut. This was the bomb to get me to the next level of healthy.
Fiber – If you’ve been around my ministry for long, I’m sure you were waiting for this one. Fiber is essential to excellent health and a good immune system, but this one is even more packed with healing ingredients.
This seed fiber is specific fibers that help us have better satiety, to wait longer until the next meal, which is one of our goals. And it’ll help you feel amazing!
