What is Fasting?

Fasting is going without to gain within!

Spiritual Benefits of Fasting

Which of these benefits listed below have you been praying for? Maybe it's time to fast!

  • To receive divine guidance, revelation, or an answer to a specific problem
  • To hear God better and to understand more fully His will for your life
  • To weaken the power of the adversary (some refer to fasting as getting a “holy oiling” and because of it, the world, the flesh and the devil can’t hold on to you. You slip right through their clutches into freedom, but there is no scriptural reference for this view point)
  • To cope with present monumental difficulties
  • To have freedom from bondage
  • To establish a position of spiritual strength and dominion
  • To be released from heavy burdens (your or others’)
  • To break through a depression
  • To invite the Lord to create in you a clean heart and renew a right spirit
  • To seek God’s face and have a closer walk with Him
  • To seek the Lord when He is directing you to do something that you don’t think you have the ability to do
  • To be free of evil or debilitating thought
  • To resist temptation
  • To be set free from everyday sins—pride, jealousy, resentment, gluttony, gossiping, etc.
  • To help you when you are feeling confused
  • To help you when life seems out of control
  • To humble yourself
  • To break the lusting of the flesh after anything
  • To gain strength
  • To invite God’s power to flow through you more mightily.
